Vision and Initiatives

The City has a significant backlog of initiatives including stormwater master plan, commercial code updates to streamline permitting, Clear Space, technology updates and likely more demands given current events.

I believe we need to spend the next 12 – 18 months focused on these initiatives making what is a great city, greater before we consider additional projects that will only overwhelm our resources.

  • Tourists visiting Our Beaches generate most of the City’s revenues, $15.9M (source: FY2027 budget). It is imperative the City focuses on preserving this asset by developing the Stormwater Master Plan addressing the chronic issue of water quality warnings.

  • The 5 Year Capital Plan projects over $54M in expenditures, we know this is not accurate because without the Stormwater Master Plan we are not capturing all the capital expenses. We need an accurate and predictable projection of the 5+ Year Capital expenditures.

  • Commercial Code Update - The Dover Kohl engagement was the result of commercial permitting delays due to ambiguous and outdated City code, preventing consensus in the interpretation. This engagement should remain focused on the original objective, updating ambiguous and outdated code which will reduce delays and costs in the commercial permitting processes.

  • Clear Space Theater – I supported the initiative to engage in Public Private Partnership discussions in early 2025 and voted to create the Public Private Partnership on October 6, 2025. I will continue to support efforts to advance this Public Private Partnership.
